I understand that people are at risk. I can’t help but understand it when I deal with that reality every single day. Running Compassion Alert is a huge task, much more than just copy/pasting some text and hitting ‘post’. There are numerous things to manage that people don’t even know about. I manage other accounts, check up on a ton of people daily, mentor a lot of at-risk kids one-on-one, among other things. A lot of people ask me for advice and I have to find time to write answers. Often the blogs I have to go to in order to assess situations are filled with things that I don’t want to look at - gore, pornography, self-injury, thinspo, etc.
I’m not complaining, but if you’re going to criticize me, you must understand one can only take so much of this work before they need a break. I have sacrificed my heath for the kids on alert more than once, but I need to take into consideration that I cannot help others if I’m not taking care of myself. Thus, I will take a break when I need to and do my best to ensure that alerts still get out.
